wood for boat trailer bunks
@help ok so went to pull the boat out and thank god i walked up to get truck as the crew with me today would have just backed it down and it would have been a disaster! i'm in a time crunch as with it being a holiday weekend i can only leave my boat in the water where it's at tonight. what is the best wood to use from home depot or lowes also is there a carpet i can get from there that will work?. Re: what type of wood to use for trailer bunks? i went to the local marine repair and bought bunk material in a roll. simple and quick. as far as the wood goes it was pressure treated. my bunks are a standard home depot length so no saw was used in this project . folded over the ends and secured with a staple gun. self tapping lag bolts and done.. Manufacturers often use roller trailers for the boats they make, which testifies that they can offer adequate support, but for optimum support of any boat, go with carpeted wooden bunks. check boating catalogs for slick silicone strips that you attach to the top of wooden bunks to greatly diminish the amount of friction between trailer and boat..
