marine grade varnish for wood
All previous paint, varnish, shellac or lacquer must be totally removed before coating with monocel clear timber varnish. a wood stain can be applied at this stage if required. allow sealer coat to dry a minimum of 4 hours before filling any imperfections with a suitably coloured putty/stopper.. Fortunately, fiberglass maintenance is simple, and a coat of deck paint every few years will help your fiberglass boat last for generations. wood; wood was the most common material used to build recreational boats before the 1970’s, but since the 1980’s wood has mostly been used for trim or special features on boats with fiberglass hulls.. The old varnish your grandfather used disappeared years ago but they just kept the name. so the bondall varnish and the monocel are both variants of polyurethane. the marine grade has more uv blockers in it to make it last longer outside. what you should actually use now is a flooring grade poly that is formulated to go extra hard.. 
marine grade varnish for wood Jamestown has a product called circa 1850 exterior varnish marine grade at $48.45 per gallon. would that be a good product to use? can you recommend a product?. also, i sanded down one of the old stall doors and restained it, it looks good but came out a little darker than before, i guess since the wood is older. we are building a teardrop. Above the waterline marine paint. topside paint features an oil-based formula that can be applied above the waterline on metal and wood surfaces. it also works well as fiberglass boat paint. these paints are great for touching up scratches or minor dents to improve the appearance of your watercraft..
