California yacht service cleaned and painted the engine room, and did a great job! man, they are really fast! before we had the chance to think, they already had the old diesel out and were. Using the most expensive paint is not always the correct answer. if you use awlgrip in the bilge make sure you have an external source of breathing air. that is some nasty sh*#. there is no benefit to using 2 part paints in an engine room. their main advantage is thier ability to withstand ultravilot sun rays. not an issue in an engine room or. The engine (10-hp diesel) is out of the boat getting serviced. i was going to use this opportunity to paint all or some parts of the engine compartment (not the engine). i have not been able to find any documentation on what kind of paint is suitable for this. there are three main areas: the bilge under the engine; the plywood & mdf side panels.
